Description | The miniature Statue of Liberty still stands in Kirby Allan's front yard, as unmovable as the convictions that turned him into one of Mesa's noisiest political gadflies.
But Allan's rambling ranch house was a burned ruin after a fire early Thursday that killed Allan, an 83-year-old former Hollywood crooner.
Allan's longtime companion, identified by police as Sigrid Dietrich, 69, escaped and was taken to a hospital for treatment of medical issues not related to the fire, according to fire spokesman Forrest Smith. |
