DescriptionQUEBEC - National Assembly members Lisette Lapointe, Louise Beaudoin and Pierre Curzi have resigned from the Parti Québécois caucus.

The three are leaving over the insistence of PQ leader Pauline Marois that they support a bill that would retroactively legalize an agreement for the management of the Quebec City's proposed hockey arena.

Quebec City negotiated the contract with Quebecor Media Inc. without a public tendering process, as required by the Quebec Cities and Towns Act. Quebecor CEO Pierre Karl Péladeau is trying to persuade the National Hockey League to move a team to the capital.

All three said they would continue to sit in the assembly as independent sovereignist MNAs.

They objected that Marois imposed on the caucus, without consultation, the decision to support Bill 204, stating that the agreement between the Quebec City and Quebecor Media Inc., was legal, even though there were no public tenders.
