Description | President Barack Obama will nominate businessman John Bryson as the next commerce secretary, a senior administration official confirmed to POLITICO.
Bryson is the former chairman and CEO of Edison International, a California-based utility company. He retired in 2008.
The president plans to make the announcement at 1:15 p.m. ET in the Rose Garden.
The post became vacant when current Commerce Secretary Gary Locke was nominated in March to replace former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman (R), a potential presidential candidate, as U.S. ambassador to China. |
