Description Montana's Republican Party put out a news release today accusing Senator Jon Tester of running over a GOP staffer in a Helena parking lot Friday, but when NBC Montana started asking questions, the story changed.

The Montana GOP's news release sports this headline: "Jon Tester runs over Montana GOP Staffer."

Ethan Heverly works for the GOP and tells NBC Montana, "It's my job to know the activities of the Senator."

GOP officials say Ethan Heverly's been on staff for two months. He's paid to follow Senator Tester around Montana. The Democrats say they have their own tracker following Tester's opponent in next year's election, Denny Rehberg.
