Description | Whether Christie Vilsack will challenge a sitting Republican or a sitting Democrat for Congress or not run at all is a carefully guarded secret - but several Democrats speculated Monday that she's likely to challenge U.S. Rep. Steve King.
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack Monday told Democratic state senators during a private meeting that if his wife does run "it will be a holy war."
Several Democrats said that hint suggests her target will be King, a religious conservative who lives in a district that tilts Republican. Others suggested Tom Vilsack simply meant the race would be a hard-fought political battle.
Advisers closest to Christie Vilsack declined to divulge what her decision will be. None was willing to comment Monday out of respect for Vilsack. |
