Description | MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin's fight over union rights came to a head at the polls as voters split almost evenly over whether to re-elect a conservative-leaning justice or give his little-known opponent his seat on the state Supreme Court.
The race between Justice David Prosser and challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg was officially too close to call, but unofficially, JoAnne Kloppenburg has earned at least a 209-vote edge.
Jefferson County Clerk Barbara Cook told Newsradio 620 WTMJ that Prosser had received 366 votes in the final municipality to report, the Town of Lake Mills, while Kloppenburg had 364 votes, with 24 hand-written votes yet to be counted.
After factoring in the the Journal Sentinel and Associated Press report that Kloppenburg held an unofficial 235 vote lead on Prosser before the Town of Lake Mills tally, that gives the Kloppenburg camp at least a 209-vote edge.
Final, official results could vary and a recount appeared likely. |
