| Description | Protestors interrupted Gov. Terry Branstad’s stop in Iowa City Thursday morning with shouts and accusations of putting the interests of large corporations before individual Iowans.
Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds stopped at the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce as part of their tour across the state to promote their plan for economic development and job growth in Iowa.
About a dozen members of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, or CCI, carried signs and shouted questions at the governor during the hour-long event.
The governor focused on his plan to cut corporate tax rates and draw new businesses to Iowa, saying his goal is to bring 200,000 new jobs to the state and raise family income levels by 25 percent.
Protestors said they grew fed-up with the discussion when they were not given an opportunity to ask questions during the Q and A session during the second half of the event. |
