Description | The lack of a dominate Senate candidate for Michigan Republicans is opening up a window of opportunity for a wild card contender, such as former congressional candidate Rob Steele.
Steele told POLITICO this week he's been approached about the possibility from those "within the party and not in the party" and is actively considering a challenge to Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
“I’m listening to people and I’m speaking with people but I certainly don’t have a firm decision," said the surgeon who ran unsuccessfully against the 28-term Rep. John Dingell, the longest serving sitting member of the House. "People were excited about a race against Dingell. I’m a very non-traditional candidate.”
He also strongly suggested he would not take another shot at the southeastern 15th Congressional District if in includes Ann Arbor after the new maps are drawn. |
