DescriptionAn Anoka-Hennepin school district teacher is suing the state, claiming officials disclosed his name in a case of alleged anti-gay harassment of a student.

According to a Ramsey County District Court summons and complaint filed Thursday, Walter Filson said he was publicly accused of mocking a student.

The suit is similar to one involving another teacher, Diane Cleveland. Also accused of harassing Alex Merritt, who is not gay, Cleveland sued the Minnesota Department of Human Rights for releasing her name. In July, a judge ruled in her favor, saying the department violated her privacy rights.

In 2008, Filson worked as a teacher in the Secondary Technical Education Program in Anoka, where he was accused of volunteering Merritt for a fashion show in front of his class "because he enjoys wearing women's clothes." Cleveland was accused of once implying the student had a "thing for older men."
