Description | Gov.-elect Peter Shumlin chose another of his former Democratic primary opponents to work in his new administration, naming Deb Markowitz as Agency of Natural Resources secretary Monday.
Shumlin said Markowitz’s management skills from her 12 years as secretary of state will help her make the environmental agency an easier place for developers to do business.
“Her talent is to transform bureaucracy into a place that delivers customer service,” Shumlin said.
Shumlin also appointed Vermont Law School professor David Mears as commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation; he will cut short a Fulbright scholarship in China to take the job in January. |
