| Description | The race to replace outgoing San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is taking on more twists and turns than a tourist bus on Lombard Street.
The latest face to pop up as the leading contender to become interim mayor is state Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, the gay comic and two-time mayoral contender whose past rivals include yours truly.
It's no secret that the left has been looking for someone - anyone - it can get behind to gain control of the mayor's office.
Ammiano tells me he has the six votes on the Board of Supervisors to be named interim mayor, and I believe him, especially after Supervisor Bevan Dufty told me he'd vote for Ammiano. |
