DescriptionWith just days until the midterm elections, Republicans are pivoting toward their Christian, conservatives values base in a string of robocalls and campaign mail pieces, targeting Democrats in districts where Republican candidates are vulnerable.

The first call to emerge was one made by the House Republican Campaign Committee in the Warrensburg area, where a call was made against Courtney Cole, who is running against State Representative Denny Hoskins.

“This is an urgent alert for all Christian families. Before you vote you should know that state representative candidate Courtney Cole has taken hundreds in campaign donations from a representative of the hard core pornography industry, including gay pornography,” says the call. “By allowing her Democratic campaign to be funded by those who are involved with and support hard core pornography Courtney Cole clearly does not share our Christian family values.”

Hoskins said, in a message to supporters, he was not a part of it.

“I, like many of you, are tired and fed up with the name calling ads. Several liberal and conservative outside groups have paid for ads about me and my opponent,” said Rep. Hoskins. “My ads, paid for by me, have been all positive and deal with the issues. You can make your own determination about the content of the ads paid for by my opponent.”

The News-Leader reports HRCC Chairman Steve Tilley apologized and said the calls were going to be pulled.
