DescriptionAn anti-war Democrat seeks to ride his party's discontent with the Iraq conflict to victory in an upcoming primary.

The strategy might fit the presidential campaign of Howard Dean, but it's also one that two local Democrats hope will pay dividends in their race against Congressman Tom Lantos in the March Democratic primary.

Much like Dean's criticism of fellow Democrats for failing to stand up against Bush on the war, Rohit Khanna and Maad Abu-Ghazalah are running to the left of the veteran Lantos on foreign policy, criticizing him for backing a multilateral war against Iraq.

In some ways, the 12th Congressional District race is shaping up like a local version of the Democrats' presidential race.
