Description | The two Republican candidates for governor offered their opinions about how to change Wisconsin's whitetail deer herd problem.
In Milwaukee Thursday, Scott Walker said part of his plan is to make the Department of Natural Resources more accountable and create a deer auditor position paid for by hunting licenses.
"It would be someone who would be independent, would be involved with an independent audit review of the whitetail deer herd in the state, would be directly responsible to report not only to the secretary but to me as the governor," said Walker.
Walker also said the state needs to eliminate T-zones and Earn-a-Buck and return to traditional hunts.
"It's something that's not only a key part of the state's heritage in terms of our hunting and trapping here in the state, it's also a key part of our state's economy," he said. |
