An excerpt..."Perdue's re-election campaign collected $2.1 million in 2003 and ended the year with $2.88 million in the bank, according to campaign disclosure documents filed Thursday. That's more than double what his predecessor, Roy Barnes, had in his kitty at the end of his first year in office. Barnes raised a similar amount his first year, but spent more money raising the money.
And Perdue had already taken in $1.5 million in the two months after the November 2002 election, as donors who had bet on the wrong horse in the election switched sides."
