DescriptionLittle-known businessman Fred Lampropoulos so far has raised more campaign-related cash than any other candidate running for Utah governor, followed by former U.S. ambassador Jon Huntsman Jr.

Huntsman, though, has more than twice as much left in his political war chest as Lampropoulos 10 months out from the Nov. 2 election: nearly $350,000, compared with $166,000, according to newly filed Political Action Committee (PAC) reports.

Lampropoulos spent $679,211 in the attempt to boost his name recognition among residents. Most of the cash paid for radio ads he has been running for months giving his personal thoughts on dozens of issues, without ever suggesting he is running for office.

Additionally, he spent more than $76,000 on calendars he had designed, printed and mailed to thousands of prospective Republican supporters. Another $30,000 went for surveys of delegates to the Republican Convention, which, come May, will narrow the crowded field to two primary election contestants.

Expected Democratic nominee Scott Matheson Jr. has raised an unknown amount of money for the governor's race.
