Description | Hultgren, a Republican from Wheaton, is running against Foster in November's election in the 14th Congressional District. On Monday, his campaign fired off a press release accusing Foster of taking a $1,000 donation from U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters of California, who is facing ethics charges.
Hultgren's camp charged Foster "has no issue with the culture of corruption in Washington."
There's just one problem: Waters didn't give any money to Bill Foster. She did, however, donate $1,000 to Gary Foster, the founder of Upliftment Jamaica and former vice president of Rush Communications, a company owned by Def Jam Records honcho Russell Simmons. That Foster has been described in press reports as "the Jamaican Obama."
Bill Foster's campaign released a humorous press release in response, with the headline: "Hey mon! You got the wrong guy." |
