Description"State Rep. Byran Lentz, D-161, declined to discuss allegations Wednesday that his campaign workers coordinated an effort to place independent James Schneller on the ballot as a spoiler to Republican Pat Meehan, who is running against Lentz in the Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District.

Speaking at a American Crane & Equipment in Tinicum, where he was making the fourth stop in his summer tour of area businesses, Lentz deferred questions to Schneller.

"My comment is, there is a tea party candidate in the race, and questions about the tea party campaign should be directed to the tea party candidate," Lentz said.

Asked whether he would confirm or deny the allegations, Lentz replied, "That's my comment."

Meehan distributed a press release Tuesday noting that several Delaware County Democrats, with varying ties to Lentz, collected signatures to help place Schneller on the ballot.

"Bryan Lentz is once again engaging in political shenanigans and will stop at nothing to make this race about everything except the issue most important to voters; jobs and the economy," Meehan campaign manager Bryan Kendro said in the release. "Lentz's supporters and associates have engaged in an underhanded attempt to manipulate the ballot and split the conservative vote by using Jim Schneller as nothing more than a prop. Lentz' cynical political games show that he is a typical politician who will do or say anything to get elected."
