Description | Public and private polls show Dean narrowly ahead of Gephardt, with Kerry a rising third and Edwards fourth. A new Los Angeles Times poll showed Dean with 30 percent; Gephardt, 23 percent; Kerry, 18 percent; and Edwards, 11 percent. Given the closeness of the race, the peculiarities of the caucus process and the fact that many Iowa Democrats have not made a firm decision, the outcome here is likely to be determined by which campaign wins the turnout battle. |
