Rep. Kendrick Meek, who has been branding himself as the only authentic Democrat in the Florida Senate race, stopped short Wednesday of saying he would support rival Jeff Greene in November if the billionaire defeated him for the party’s nomination.
Speaking on a conference call with reporters to announce a 10-day statewide bus tour, Meek used harsh language to describe his opponent, portraying him as a deceptive political opportunist attempting to purchase the Aug. 24 primary.
But while Greene has signaled he would support Meek in the event he’s unsuccessful, the four-term Miami congressman declined to reciprocate.
“I don’t like to live in the world of hypotheticals. I’m not even prepared to answer that,” he said.
