DescriptionBefore he's even called his first play for Matt Cassel, the Chiefs' new offensive coordinator Charlie Weis is part of Todd Tiahrt's game plan in his truly ugly U.S. Senate primary race with Jerry Moran.

Weis, who was fired in November after five years as head coach at Notre Dame, is scheduled to appear at a Tiahrt fundraiser in Olathe July 23. Tickets are going for $100 to $1,000 per couple.

Tiahrt and Moran have been burning through cash in a pissing match over who is more conservative. Weis is just the latest high-profile person to back Tiahrt, who's trying to cut into Moran's lead. Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, the Tea Party Express, and the Kansas branch of Glenn Beck's conservative 9-12 Project group have all endorsed Tiahrt. Adding even more drama, immigration-obsessed (and apparently research-challenged) Colorado congressman Tom Tancredo recently yanked his endorsement of Moran and endorsed Tiahrt. Tancredo ripped Moran in a letter to his followers:

"After independent research, I have learned disturbing information about Congressman Moran's support of amnesty and benefits for illegal immigrants."
