Description | The Nebraska Democratic Party is officially back on the gubernatorial clock after candidate Mark Lakers announced Friday he would be withdrawing from the race.
"We entered this race due to our recognition that Nebraska was under-performing its potential badly with economic development opportunities in core industries and most Nebraskans were being hurt by this poor performance," Lakers said in a statement. "And, the current governor was placing politics above the public good.
"But our campaign has failed to reach key milestones, including the financial support and endorsement of many major donors. At this time, I do not see how we can run a competitive campaign."
Lakers added that personal attacks had been difficult on his wife Jackie and "I will not remain in the race without her full support." |
