Quite a few of its candidates for the July 11 Upper House election have experience working for such businesses.
Although it was formed less than a year ago, Your Party looks set to dramatically increase its seats, making a viable third party alternative to the ruling Democratic Party of Japan and the main opposition Liberal Democratic Party.
Former Liberal Democratic Party Lower House member Yoshimi Watanabe and his colleagues formed Your Party in August of 2009 after then-Prime Minister Taro Aso dissolved the Lower House. This party, which for a time rose to third-most popular after the Democratic Party of Japan and the LDP, is carrying the hopes of many in the business community. |
