Description | Convicted serial killer Scott Kimball has been called one of Colorado's most infamous criminals. Now he's something else: a political issue.
Newly-unsealed court documents show the order clearing the way for Kimball's release from prison in December 2002 was signed by U.S. Attorney John Suthers, who is now Colorado's Attorney General.
Kimball was supposed to work as an informant for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Instead, he went on a killing spree.
Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett headed the office that ultimately convicted Kimball and is now running against Suthers to be the state's Attorney General.
