Description | Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed several bills related to health care yesterday that will reinstate KidsCare, restrict abortion funding, and prevent human hybridization.
As expected, the Governor signed a bill that brings back KidsCare, the state's Children Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Eliminating KidsCare would have cost the state $7 billion over five years in 3-to-1 Federal matching funds.
The governor also signed a bill that prevents using Medicaid funds to pay for abortions, unless the procedure would save the life of the pregnant woman or prevent the irreversible and substantial impact of a bodily function. |
