Description | Charles C. Barham of Lincoln Parish, who served as a Democratic state senator from Ruston for two decades under three different governors, died of cancer Monday with his family by his side.
He was 76.
Barham, who also worked as an attorney in Ruston, served in the Senate from 1964 to 1972 and from 1976 to 1988.
Barham’s maternal cousin and close friend, longtime News-Star columnist Wiley Hilburn, said Barham’s approach to politics enabled him to broker agreements in the Senate. |
