NCAA Official: BCS Originally Predicted Army-Eastern Michigan National Championship

| Description | In a candid interview earlier today, NCAA president Myles Brand secretly admitted to BCS officials having to compute the BCS standings twice after the computer initially gave a peculiar National Championship matchup - Army vs. Eastern Michigan.
Why the computer initially ranked the 0-13 Black Knights 1st in the nation and the 3-9 Eagles 2nd is still a mystery.
"It must have been a glitch", lamented BCS official Joe Miller. "They sent these computers over to us back in 2001. I think they were modified, because they were initially used to tabulate ballots in Florida."
Several pundits, however, claim the first tabulation was not a mistake, as ESPN's Scott Salisbury argues:
"Head-to-head records and point differentials have nothing to do with the scoring system. I think that all the talking heads out there have to look beyond the fact that these teams are 3-19 combined, and realize that silly, frivolous things like a team's record do not influence the computer's decision. Quite frankly, I'd protest the reversal of the computer's decision if I was Army." |
