Description"Democratic Congressman Joe Sestak has said the White House offered him a job if he dropped out of the Pennsylvania Senate race against Democratic (this week) Senator Arlen Specter.

Politicians will say or do anything to get elected, so who knows?

But former Republican Senator Rick Santorum said he backed Specter, then a Republican (having switched parties in the 1960s), in a horse trade.

Via Politico, Santorum said: “The reason I endorsed Arlen Specter is because we were going to have two Supreme Court nominees coming up. I got a commitment from Arlen Specter that no matter who George W. Bush would nominate, he would support that nominee.”

Again, who knows?

It is interesting that a man who calls himself a Republican would be thought to have to be cut a deal to support something as basic as Republican nominees to the high court.
