DescriptionDillard concedes to Brady in GOP governor's race

Republican state Sen. Kirk Dillard officially conceded defeat today to Sen. Bill Brady for the GOP governor nomination.

In a statement issued by Dillard's campaign prior to a Chicago news conference, the Hinsdale lawmaker said "it was a "close" race but that he "will help Sen. Brady in any way I can to ensure the Republican Party wins back the governor's office in November."

The concession came hours after the State Board of Elections certified Brady as the 193-vote winner of Illinois' Feb. 2 Republican primary for governor.

The difference amounted to a miniscule .025 percent of the 767,492 ballots cast in the heavily contested race for the nomination. Officially, Brady got 20.26 percent of the GOP primary vote, compared to Dillard's 20.24 percent.
