| Description | Four people -- two Democrats and two Republicans -- want the job. After three terms, incumbent Attorney General Christine Gregoire, a Democrat, is running for governor.
King County Councilman Rob McKenna.
McKenna, a Republican, has been on the county council since 1996. A former Eagle Scout and Texas native, McKenna says he would bring a blend of practical experience to the job. He's been a lawyer for major corporations such as Boeing and Nintendo. And he has years of experience on the county council, working on tax issues, budgets and environmental problems.
Issaquah attorney Mark Vaska.
"The attorney general's job is one that requires a professional attorney, not a professional politician," he said.
He's repeatedly been named one of the state's "Super Lawyers" in an annual list compiled by the magazine Washington Law and Politics.
Former state Insurance Commissioner Deborah Senn.
Senn, a Democrat, served two terms as insurance commissioner, from 1993 to 2001. A specialist in environmental law and representing consumers in phone, gas and electricity cases, Senn now works for a firm focusing on asbestos injury cases. She brought that consumer-advocacy focus to the job of insurance commissioner, drawing fire from insurers but praise from consumer advocate Ralph Nader, who once described her as "the best insurance commissioner in the United States."
Mark Sidran.
Sidran, the only former deputy prosecuting attorney in the race, was Seattle's city attorney for 12 years, championing "civility laws" that made it a crime to sit on sidewalks, aggressively panhandle or urinate in public.
