DescriptionSen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) came to the defense Wednesday night if his former running mate, tweaking President Barack Obama for relying on teleprompters.

McCain defended former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), his 2008 vice presidential running mate, after the was shown to have scribbled crib notes on her hand for a question-and-answer session at the Tea Party convention last weekend in Nashville.

"I guess it's OK to use a teleprompter but not OK to write something on your hand," McCain said during an appearance on Fox News.

McCain was mocking the president's frequent use of teleprompters, a meme that has become emergent in conservative circles. The Arizona senator was also responding to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, who jokingly scrawled notes on his hand during a White House press briefing earlier this week.
