Description(ChattahBox)—The conservative Christian group Family Research Council, headed by Tony Perkins, held a one-hour webcast called a “prayercast” Wednesday evening to pray against the Senate’s health care reform bill. The wacky right-wing Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) attended the prayercast to save the nation from the much needed reform of our broken health care system. She led the assembled prayercast participants in prayer, asking Jesus for mercy for the sins of the lawmakers who support the health care reform bill.

Joining Bachmann at the prayerfest were, Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (SC), Sam Brownback (KS) and Rep. Randy Forbes (VA). The prayer meeting to stop health care reform was also attended by such right-wing evangelical luminaries, as Lou Engle of The Call to Conscience, James and Shirley Dobson of Focus on the Family and Jim Daly president of Focus on the Family.

The prayercast was not without its over-top-rhetoric. James Dobson referred to President Obama as the “Evil One. “I just pray that you will frustrate the plans of the Evil One and revive us again with conviction and forgiveness,” said Dobson. Pastor Jim Garlow made the case that the health care reform bill violated nearly all Ten Commandments.

And Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) sent a taped video message invoking his now famous Thanksgiving speech, saying Americans should be like the early Pilgrims and base our country on the strict teachings of the Bible.
