Description | In an email this hour from Robert Chappell, former communications director for Wisconsin Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton, we learn that Henry Sanders, Jr. has announced his candidacy for the seat being vacated by Lawton. Sanders previously ran against incumbant State Assembly District 81 Democrat Dave Travis in 2006. Chappell's email is below:
I hope you'll excuse a note of both a personal and political nature. As you may know, I've always been active and interested in politics, but decided long ago that I didn't want to make it my profession - unless it was for a candidate I truly, truly believed in. As it turns out, I've put a good number of years into the political business, due almost solely to my belief in one candidate - Henry Sanders, Jr.
I met Henry six years ago or so, when I was a business writer at Madison Magazine and he was Executive VP at the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce. He was my age - just 29 at the time - but had accomplished quite a lot more than I had. You can get his whole bio at [Link] but even then his resume was impressive: founder of Magnet, the young professionals group (which is still going strong); founder of the Chamber's Small Business Advisory Council; former aide to Rep. Tammy Baldwin, working on labor, education and environmental issues. When I decided to write a monthly column on "Up & Comers," he was an easy choice for the first one. |
