Description | Former Vice President Dan Quayle says it's not the last year's run of bailouts that has galvanized Republican opposition to the Obama Administration, but their scope.
The Wall Street and banking bailout began under George W. Bush, but has been joined this year by government loans and then prepackaged bankruptcies for GM and Chrysler, and by Obama's $787-billion stimulus package.
Quayle's employer, Cerberus, sold its ownership stake in Chrysler as part of the deal.
The Huntington native says it's the size of that number that's alarmed Republicans, and suggests tax cuts would have done more to create jobs than the stimulus.
