Description | Gov. Rick Perry broke his right collarbone Tuesday evening in a mountain biking accident near his home, according to his office.
Perry, 59, also suffered a minor abrasion on his right elbow, his office said. He was taken to the emergency room at Seton Medical Center in Austin and was expected to be released Tuesday night.
According to a statement from Perry's office, the accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Perry spokesman Mark Miner said additional details were not available. Perry's office has canceled his schedule for today. Perry usually rides his bike with members of his security detail, Miner said.
Perry and his family live in the Estates Above Lost Creek subdivision, about 14 miles from downtown Austin. They moved there to clear the way for work on the Governor's Mansion. |
