Description | San Francisco District Attorney Terence Hallinan got some big-name support in his hard-fought re-election bid Monday when House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi campaigned on his behalf in the city's Mission District.
Pelosi, appearing with Hallinan and other female backers of the incumbent at The Women's Building community center on 18th Street, said the district attorney has recruited and promoted talented female lawyers and has been a forceful advocate for the interests of female crime victims.
"When he came to the District Attorney's Office, he brought a commitment to public service that is in his genes, in his family," she said, adding: "Why would you put someone out of office who is doing an excellent job?"
Hallinan needed the boost -- in general and with women voters. On Monday, new financial disclosures by the campaigns of Hallinan and his opponent, Kamala Harris, show the challenger with a big lead in money raised and numbers of contributions. |
