Description | ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Former state Republican Party chairman Allen Weh says he's forming an exploratory committee to consider a run for governor.
Weh plans to make a decision in the next two months after he travels the state to gage his support. If he chooses to run, he would be the second person on the Republican side after Albuquerque financial adviser Greg Zanetti entered the race last month.
Lt. Gov. Diane Denish is the only announced Democrat seeking the governor's seat.
The 66-year-old Weh is a retired Marine Corps Reserve colonel who was a Marine Corps pilot during the Vietnam War.
A resident of Albuquerque, Weh is president of CSI Aviation Services, Inc.
Weh was elected to lead New Mexico Republicans in 2004 but chose not to seek another four-year term last fall. |
