Description | Justice David Souter has announced that he will be stepping down from the bench in June. This affords President Obama his first opportunity to fill a slot on the bench, one that has essentially been consistently liberal/progressive, even though nominated by then President George H. W. Bush.
Thus, I nominate Senator Russ Feingold. Knowing that everyone expects that the seat on the bench will remain on the liberal end of the spectrum, might as well put in a very solid Constitutional Law scholar, who has clearly shown independence, and a willingness to actually get into the hard issues with erudition and tenacity. As he has always been open to the presidents getting the type of candidate that they have wanted, even the Republicans would have a hard time raising much of a fuss.
Russ Feingold for Supreme Court. It makes absolutely perfect sense.
Someone get on this as quickly as possible. |
