DescriptionIllinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan would start out with a lead in the
Democratic primary if she decided to make a bid for Governor or Senator, the newest
survey from Public Policy Polling finds.
Madigan leads current Governor Pat Quinn 45-29 in a possible primary contest. Quinn is
getting good reviews for his work so far- 56% approval from likely primary voters
compared to only 14% disapproval- but Madigan is simply more popular. 74% of folks
who say they’d be likely to vote in a Democratic primary have a favorable impression of
her.
The Senate contest looks like it would be even easier for Madigan as she receives 44% in
a possible four way primary contest with Alexi Giannoulias at 19%, Roland Burris at
13%, and Jan Schakowsky at 11%.
