DescriptionFormer Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno has been indicted by a grand jury on eight counts of public corruption charges.

The 79-year-old spent more than three decades in the state Senate before retiring over the summer amid a three-year FBI investigation into his business dealings.

The indictment accuses Bruno of using his position to defraud New Yorkers from 1993 through at least 2006. During that time, Bruno was involved with a private consulting firm that made him hundreds of thousands of dollars through lucrative contracts with state agencies.
