Description | Buzz is building, with good reason, about whether two-term U.S. Sen. George Voinovich of Ohio will retire at the end of this term. As Brent Larkin says in his Plain Dealer column today, Voinovich has been raising money as if he faces a re-election challenge in 2010. But the former Ohio governor, 72, has been thinking about the future, his family, grandkids and the sacrifices that a dual life, split between Washington and Ohio, requires.
He hasn't said he won't run. But since the Christmas holidays, when he spent some time reflecting, he hasn't said he will, either. This is a departure from his usual I-am-running stance, and combined with private conversations, speculation is running rampant this morning that Voinovich could announce a decision as soon as next week. |
