Description | Columbus City Councilman Kevin L. Boyce, Ohio's newly appointed state treasurer, says he has the knowledge and experience necessary to invest and safeguard state tax dollars.
Boyce, who has served as chairman of the council's finance committee, said during a news conference in the governor's office that as treasurer he will "ensure that our dollars reach the highest return they can get and also are protected in the best way they can be."
Gov. Ted Strickland named Boyce, 37, to replace Treasurer Richard Cordray, who won election Nov. 4 as Ohio attorney general.
He and Cordray, both Democrats, will assume their respective offices on Jan. 6 after a joint session of the General Assembly adopts the certified results of the fall election.
They both plan to run for full four-year terms in 2010. |
