Description | WASHINGTON — A Wisconsin lawmaker is among 16 honorary co-chairmen for President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration next month.
In a statement issued Monday, Obama said Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, and the other chairmen reflect "the spirit of unity and shared purpose this Inauguration will reflect."
Baldwin, a five-term House member and the only openly lesbian member of Congress, backed Obama rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential bid. After Obama won the party's nomination, Baldwin worked for his election and did outreach to Clinton supporters. |
