Description | SACRAMENTO -- California awarded its 55 electoral votes to Barack Obama on Monday, formally sealing the state's choice for president.
California's electors cast their ballots on the floor of the state Assembly in a ceremonial procedure. It happened about an hour after Obama secured the 270 electoral votes he needed nationally to win.
