DescriptionAs expected, it wasn't a good night nationwide for House Republicans as Democrats ratcheted up their majority, and in Ohio longtime incumbent GOP Rep. Steve Chabot went down - but House Minority Leader John Boehner says he wants to retain his post.

There had been talk among some Republicans that it would be time for a change in congressional leadership if Democrats did as well - or better than - expected in the race for Congress - and it would be far from surprising if a serious challenge materialized. But Boehner says he is the one to continue to lead the House GOP.

"I’m deeply disappointed by the outcome of Tuesday’s election," Boehner said. "But I’m equally committed to building a lasting majority on the reform principles that define us and inspire our citizens. For this reason, I’m writing today to announce my candidacy for Republican Leader in the 111th Congress, and to request the honor of your vote.
