Description | On her sweep through Florida to secure the crucial senior vote, the 96-year-old mother of Republican presidential candidate John McCain made a breakfast stop at Althea's restaurant to greet two dozen of her son's supporters and a few old friends.
"I'm not supposed to talk," Roberta McCain said pleasantly when a reporter asked about her son's running mate, Sarah Palin. "Now don't push me."
Known as the true straight-talk express of the family, the candidate's mother has been kept mostly under wraps by the campaign since the primaries.
An identical twin, who at age 20 eloped to Tijuana with Navy ensign John Sidney McCain Jr. because her mother did not approve, Roberta McCain is known to be talkative and unpredictable.
