Description | Defence Minister Abdel Qader Jassim Mohammed said on Wednesday that Iraqi security forces would soon take control of two central Shiite provinces from the US military.
The provinces of Babel and Wasit will be handed over "soon" to the Iraqi forces, Mohammed told a news conference in Baghdad's Green Zone, without giving specific dates.
On September 1, Iraq took control of the western Sunni province of Anbar, the 11th of 18 provinces to have been handed over to Baghdad by US-led forces.
