Description | U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald has objected to the use of his photograph in a political flier in the race for Cook County state's attorney, but the Republican candidate using it said Saturday he's not going to stop.
The flap centers on a door-hanger featuring—but not naming—Fitzgerald, who is known for prosecuting political corruption in Illinois, and Tony Peraica, the GOP nominee for state's attorney in the Nov. 4 election. The piece includes side-by-side photos of Peraica and Fitzgerald and talks about Peraica's vow to fight corruption in Cook County.
Fitzgerald sent the Peraica campaign a letter asking that it stop using his image because it could be construed as an endorsement—something Fitzgerald hasn't done in the state's attorney race.
Peraica of Riverside said that the campaign piece was vetted by an attorney and that there is nothing wrong with it. He said he intends to continue using the flier despite receiving Fitzgerald's letter. |
