Description | Priscilla Lord Faris, a Sunfish Lake resident and challenger to Al Franken's DFL-endorsed Senate campaign, has been moving at warp speed since filing for candidacy, July 15. In a little over a month, Lord Faris has gathered a staff of family and colleagues to execute a Web site, develop a platform, tour the state, fundraise, and design a media campaign that will run until the primary on Sept. 9.
Lord Faris is encouraged by her father, Miles Lord, a former attorney general, founding member of the Democratic Farmer-Labor Party and former federal district court chief judge. He said he speaks with his daughter about twice a day. "She is bright, intelligent, experienced, and she has everything it takes to be a United States senator - an honored and beloved one," Lord said. At age 89, Miles Lord still packed up his support for his daughter and accompanied her to the State Fair, standing in the middle of the street to greet passers-by: "Hi, I'm Miles Lord. My daughter is running for the U.S. Senate, would you like to meet her?" |
