An excerpt...
"Joe Biden's resume could boost Barack Obama's presidential bid, politicians and pundits seemed to agree on CNN, MSNBC, blogs in New York City and Los Angeles and in the small state of Delaware, where electoral votes won't make or break this election.

Biden isn't from Texas or Florida. But Dick Cheney wasn't picked for swing votes in Wyoming.

Biden does appeal to blue-collar voters -- he hails from the coal country of Scranton, Pa. -- and might help the Democrats carry that critical state in November. A 36-year U.S. Senate veteran, he's forged strong ties with congressional leaders and policymakers from both parties. He is an expert in foreign affairs, knows world leaders and has visited nearly every corner of the planet.

Political analysts rattled off those attributes and more Thursday as speculation mounted that Obama might choose Delaware's senior senator as his running mate. Obama said Thursday he has made his choice, and the announcement is expected as early as today.

Besides Biden, the Illinois senator was widely thought to be considering Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana along with Govs. Tim Kaine of Virginia and Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas. None of them gave anything away -- at least not in words.

Obama spent part of Thursday with Kaine, including a private meeting between the two men and Kaine's staff for 15 minutes at a Richmond hotel. Afterward, Kaine said he would let the Obama campaign speak about whether the candidate asked him to be his No. 2.

Reporters have staked out Sen. Joe Biden's house in Greenville for days. On Thursday, the pack didn't get any hints on whether he will be named Barack Obama's running mate.
